Tart Nangka (Jackfruit Tart)
Jackfruit Tart is unique to Terengganu where instead of using pineapples, local prefer to use a more exotic fruit. Jackfruit is akin to breadfruit but has a yellow and leather textured flesh. It is the biggest tree-borne fruit in the world. It can weigh between 3kg to 30kg and is rich in protein, calcium, iron and potassium. The pastry is doughy and tastes a bit like bread and is different from the conventional pineapple tart pastry one finds everywhere else in Malaysia. The jackfruit is pureed and cooked with sugar and some flour, butter and sometimes almond powder is added.
